I have an ASUS P2E-B mobo running a PII-300Mhz. It was running fine. I shut it off to install more RAM (another 64Mb PC-100 SDRAM to make a total of 128Mb).

When I turned it back on it gave me 1 long beep and then three short ones, but no video came up. The funny thing is, it sounds like the hard drive is going through the normal boot noises.

I checked a website to interpret the beeps, says external/convention RAM problems. The RAM works in other computers. I tried reseating the RAM swapping it around installing different RAM chips. Nothing. Tried to get it back to the way it was before with only 64 Mb...same thing.

Anyone have any suggestions? Someone suggested the mobo may have cracked when the ram was installed. Is this possible? Would really appreciate any help.

Try removing your video card and reseating it. The "beep codes" would suggest that you might have loosened it from its slot.

I hope this helps...

One long beep and three short beeps means something is wrong with the video. Make sure that the video card is seated properly and that the monitor cable is securely attached.
