ok i know this is a newb question but its better to be safe then sorry .. can you guys please give me proper instructions for installing in general cpu's or in my case a volcano 2 heatsink onto my tbird soket a.. its and msi raid board .. perticularly i would like to know what screw driver do you use to pop that baby in .. thanks .. appriciate it ..

I find it much easier to install the h/s fan with the m/b outside of the case if possible, the extra clearance helps alot if youre new at putting one on...
Just make sure you don't slip and put a knick on the mainboard circuits using a screw driver. I've seen some people ruin their mainboards by making this costly mistake...

Yep, and be dam sure the sink is flat and level on top of the core AND STAYS THERE during the latching down process. Many chips are killed while latching the sink to the tabs on the socket if the sink is just a little off-level, and pressure is applied to the edge of the core. Most people are now using a non conductive shim to help take the chance of this happening away. If the sink does slip off level, the shim takes the load, not the fragle core. Be sure to put a thin coat of Artic Silver heat conducting compound on top of the core...not enough to squeeze out and get onto the bridges and resistors beside the core. If the spring latch seems VERY strong, it may be...some spring latching systems are shearing the tabs off of the sockets.
