What am I to make of this?

Been running Zone Alarm for some time now. Routinely get 8-12 "blocked access attempt" messages a day...no big deal. But the other day, I come home from work and see 204 blocked attempts!

Is it even possible for a hacker to scan a block of IPs 204 times in a day? Or does seem more likely that someone was intentionally targeting my machine?

Either way, no skin off my nose...just wondering.

what was the IP hammering you? I had the same thing happen 3 days ago while I watched.
Zonalarm went apes**t, like a print spooler out of control. Decided to cold-boot and it killed it.

I have a cable modem and sometimes ZA goes wacky on me. It BLOCKS my OWN proxy server! So I get no access until I turn ZA off. :/ But it's okay I guess...ZA normally blocks about 20 attempts/day. Heh, it even blocks @home from trying to scan my comp http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif Too funny...

Hi OuTpaTienT,
Do you have OptOut so you can check for known spyware that could be the culpret?
http://grc.com/optout.htm

My guess is that it's more unregulated advertising invasion of privacy stuff than some individual that's targeted your machine.

I guess it's a good thing you have ZA, or you'd never even know they are trying to rip you off. (rip you off of your privacy that is)

Pretty dang disturbing, what they can get away with without your knowledge or consent!

OK, I'll get off my soap box now, I just hope you track down who they are and give 'em h*ll, I have, and will again, no doubt.

Happy hunting,
