Which brand and model are good recommendations for a celeron or P3 fc pga. What about the ABIT VH6-II. NDD 05-01-2001, 05:42 AM One of the best PIII mobos around, really http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif Best Regards ... terrancelam 05-01-2001, 08:45 AM I'm running a celeron on the VA6 orginal and I find it to be pretty good except for the ****ing on board sound which won't let me use my own sound card! it will disable, but it won't accept my old ISA sound card! heavymtl 05-02-2001, 03:27 PM anyone know if any motherboard makers are doing boards WITHOUT onboard sound and video...i want to replace mine and have my onw cards to install...just need a good borad for a celeron566...thanxxxxxxxx cheapster 05-05-2001, 01:14 AM I had such good luck with a MSI-6309 and PIII 600E that I bought another one and put a Celeron 600 in it. Both are overclocked and very stable. I think Microbarn still has some in stock for around $80 or so. Chuck speedkills 05-06-2001, 02:45 PM Supermicro "370DDE" board should be an attactive option for you. It has good features, and no audio, or video on board. I know a guy that had great luck with one, with no issues right out of the box. ragtop 05-07-2001, 01:51 AM I think the VH6-II would be a great choice. I've been using an original VH6 with a 600 Celeron for almost a year without any significant problems. The only issues I've had are: -The original VH6 didn't have many overclocking options for my Celeron, but the VH6-II fixes that by including SoftMenu III BIOS. -The on board sound is pretty crappy, but contrary to what someone else said, I've had no problems running both ISA and PCI sound cards. -My ATI Rage Fury Pro video card won't run at 4x AGP, I have to set it for 2x. I don't know if thats a problem with the motherboard or the video card. (There's virtually no noticeable difference between 2x and 4x anyway) EdRamsey 06-12-2001, 10:54 PM Does anyone know if the VH6-II will support a P3-650 FCPGA? If it doesn't, will I need to download a bios update? I really need any info anyone can provide. Thanks. EdRamsey 06-12-2001, 11:10 PM I forgot to mention that I have a P3 650 and the only reason why I want to get the VH6 is because it isn't a slot 1. Does the Abit slocket card work well in converting the socket to slot 1? I might be overclocking it and I don't know if the slocket will cause problems. RobRich 06-13-2001, 04:11 AM Good quality slocket adapters generally do not cause any significant concerns for overclocking. Go for the latest Iwill or Abit adapter and you should be ok.
