Hey guys,
I've been wondering about this fact just about a few days after I registered myself here.
When your in the forum's main menu with gen. discussion etc. why and when do these lights go on/off???
I kept track of these things, and came up with the following.
It isn't when there is a message I haven't read yet??!!
Or if there is a member/not-member looking in that area at the moment??
I really like to know, it's been bugging me from the beginning.
I'm very curious, so .......

The Ultimate Bulletin Board system places a cookie in your system that records initial log/view point of the main page. If there is a bright light, you have not read some of the posts in the forum next to it, dim states you have.
But, be careful, as if you stay on the site a long time and view heavily trafficked (sp?) forums a few times, the cookie will still think you haven't read somethings you have, as it tracks everything off your initial main page access, or the last time you have refreshed.
Make sense?

Same thing when you get to the topic page, the red folders have new posts, the yellow ones have not been active since your last visit.
BTW-Not even close to the stupidest question. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

IMHO - there is only one dumb question, and that is the one that was not asked.

I thought of starting a new thread on this one but i guess here is just as good.
What's the dumbest question ever asked? (other than this one.)
And whats the most asked question? ie: How do i become a member?
After rereading this i think those questions answer themselves. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Geen domme vraag.
Dutch rules!!!!
It isn't a dumb question,some people are just afraid to ask.Wise advise:not asking,that's dumb!

But always look for the answer before you ask. That way, if the answer isn't readily apparent, you'll be asking a smart-well-thought-out-fully-researched question, rather than the standard....question.
