just bought the abit KT7A raid mobo and am having a few problems with it. I have
a 250w psu (could this be the problem??)
a 1.3 (266fsb) athlon, 256mb 133mhz , an ati expert2000 32video out , and kbd and mouse , to minimise the problems plus a 41 gb IBM 100ATA HDD.
Each time I try starting the system it switches ( fans etc start blowing)on and then after 4 beeps the whole thing magically switches off. I have a coolermaster fan on the cpu , I've changed the agp card with another working one. What could the problem be?? Tried moving the memory on the various slots.

Do you have a fan plugged into the fan header closest to the cpu on the mother board?

Have you cleared the BIOS? I have installed 3 of these boards, and before I was able to do anything, I had to clear the BIOS as the default settings did not appear to be so default. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif 'Tis a great board, but you need to know what you are doing in the BIOS! One false multiplier, and you pretty much have to start over!

Don't suppose you got a Duron laying around?
I had the same problems, same board, and my 1.2 Thunderbird turned out to be bad.
Good Luck

Bovon got it correct! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif The FAN1 header is the one closest to the DRAM slots. Also make sure that you have a three wire fan and it's operating properly.

The fan header #1 is where the fan is supposed to be attached. That header is next to the SDRAM socket.
