Please help Bovon 05-29-2001, 05:46 PM I have never taken a laptop apart, but I have seen them being taken apart at a shop onetime, and If I saw, what I think I saw, the tech removed the screws, and then had to release the case parts that had a sort of interlock built in...kinda like the little battery cover on small calculators, ect. I ordered a service manual for my Dell when I bought it...just in case. chapsieml 05-29-2001, 06:32 PM Before you tear the lap top apart take a close look at the bottom side. A lot of CMOS batteries are coin type that are accessible from out side the case. Check and see if there is a heavy plastic sticker on bottom with data on it, under the sticker you may find a round plastic cap with a screw driver , or coin slot in it. Usually only takes one quarter turn to open to access the battery. Also some batteries are accessible from the top- a plastic cover part near the display screen that slides/may be held with a screw to give access to ram and battery. Two get into a case look for small round rubber plugs you'll find screws under them. Also look for areas where the top half of the case meets the bottom half for snap together slots. I don't recommend that you take your case apart- lap tops are extremely difficult to work on with out doing damage to them. Also they are complicated to get apart and back together properly. lazerbeam 05-31-2001, 12:24 PM Most laptops/notebooks have a small compartment on the bottom side with the CMOS battery inside. I've a couple of models that have the battery under the user removeable RAM module. This compartment is also located on the bottom. I've taken one notebook computer apart in my life. Big mistake. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif You will probably never get the darn thing back together again!!! Or at least not without professional help. SysOpt.com
