I'm trying to identify a mother board that I believe is a Compaq MB. But I have been unable to ID it as of yet.

It's a micro ATX, 3PCI, 1AGP, 3DIMM, VIA KT133 (VT8363) chipset, Socket 462(Socket A), Parallel with the DIMMs and towards the outside edge of board there are 2 switch blocks one has 6 switches the other has 8, after the switches are the secondary and primary IDE. In between the 1st and 2nd PCI slots is "UWAVE" silkscreened on the board. It may be an engineering board as I tend to pick these up every now and then.. On the edge of the board the numbers "LG0500674" is on a sticker, also on a sticker is "E0000 786k1"

I'm thinking it's out of a Presario 5000 series but I'm not sure.

If this sounds like your board, please let me know.

look for a part number that looks something like this: 154483-001

i give you that example because i just read that off of a compaq mobo at work. try going to the compaq site and fishing around or call them and ask them. good luck

I recently bought a board off of ebay that fits that desciption. I can't find any information on it anywhere, but I am assuming that the OEM for it is a mainstream brand under a different name (UWave).
[URL=http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1234573367[/URL]

It has a barcode sticker along the bottom that reads "KUA0CB3464" followed by two other stickers that say 0106 and 786K1. On the bottom PCI slot there is a yellow sticker that reads "replace with compaq spare SPS-BD SYS uWAVE (the 'u' is a greek symbol) Spare No: 217155-001 Part No: 207074-101

I'm trying to build a desktop for dirt cheap, since I plan on purchasing (or having my company purchase for me) a laptop within the next two months. I have a 950mhz T-bird for it thats ripe for overclocking but I haven't had a chance start it up. I'd like to find the drivers for it and learn about the board, but its been pretty tough to find anything about it. If anybody has any info about it, or tips on overclocking, I would appreciate any advice. Thanks

Scott

Ha Ha.. I didn't put that together until now.. uWave = Micro Wave. That definatly sounds like the board I have. I'm pretty sure it's a Compaq. I have another one from Compaq that says AspenII in the same font that I know is Compaq. I'll try to look up that replacement number, that's what I did with the Aspen board. Stay tuned.

just had a chance to put it together and start it up. It's definitely compaq - its got a proprietary bios with a "Compaq" logo splash screen.... oh well... what should I expect for $33.
Hey, if you happen to find a flash utility (the bios is pretty basic) or some mobo drivers (the compaq website is a nightmare), could you send them my way? Thanks

Does your board have the jumper/switch settings silkscreened onto the board?

If so, can you send them my way.

I haven't looked up the part number yet.., been quite busy.

My board doesn't have a switch box, which I'm kind of disappointed about. There are only 2 jumpers on it - one above the primary and secondary ide ports that I believe switches between 100 and 133mhz bus speed (my system won't work in 133) and the other is by the battery - it resets the bios. Other than that, there are the pin leads to the front panel switches and LED's - if you need those I can probably photograph it for you.

From the description of the board, it sounds like it could be an FIC AZ31 OEM UWAVE. I have one at home. I will check the numbers against you have listed.

I heard of one individual that successfully flashed the BIOS to that of the regular AZ31, but I never tried it. I ran a 1 gig TBird 200 with 768mb PC100 on the board with no problems, oh and a MSI GF2 Ti as well.

Keep in mind that the chipset won't support a 133/266 processor.
