The ata 100 drive will run at ata 66 or ata 33 if that is all the board will accept. I would recommend the ata 100 that way if you upgrade in the future you have the faster drive. Go with the fastest rpm you can find. As far as brands there a many. I won't get caught up in the brand war. Just do a search for hard drive problems and see what it turns up. There will be enough info in those articules for you to make an opinion for the brand you might want.
