Bigfoot's?!?!?

So what's up with Quantum's big foot drives? Besides being a little slower, why are they so cheap? The last market pro show I was at I could get a 19.2 gig for $99 or a 12.7 gig for $77(if I remember right). Just wondering if there was a reason not to buy these things. Casey

I think they are so cheap because they are slower. I have one in one of my computers, and it is great for storage, but it will lag the whole system...no problems with it though

We had several at work in machines that continually failed. Drive after drive went bad. They were older models than the ones you are talking about, but it kinda soured me on them.

I always used to fit them to system We built, but after the last escapade with one of their SCSI drives, I will not be using them again till they have a better importer Down Under, Quantum say drive has warranty till 2001, importer won't even acknowledge request for a RMA #, basically there attitude is #@$^$*&* off, also heard that a lot of their resent drives have been failing so much that they are going to cut warranty time, ( but as yet that's only a rumor, have not had confirmation)

we had noting but trouble with bigfoots. Stopped accepting equip if they had 'em.
we have one as a paerweight.It would have cost us more in labor and paperwork than to send it back.

I can't say one good word of it,I would end up cursing...
I have a 400MHz computer with 32Mb mem and a 4gig Bigf*ck.Because I only have 32Mb I have to use a lot of virtual memory.My Big one is only 3,3Mb sec.This means that ALL games made in '99 or '00 won't work (it's SHOCKING)e.g. Driver,GTA2,BloodII,QuakeIII.And it makes the sound of a 50 year old LP record

I really hate this big LP record rewriter!
