I have noticed lately that things that are being exposed by the media have actually been discussed on this site for some time.

For example:
BlackIce was reviewed in PCWorld months after many of us had begun to use it regularly as a great means of security

Echelon is being discussed in the media, while we have been aware of its existence for some time as well.

Seems to be pretty nice to 'be in the know'. I'm sure there are many more examples, but these recently s\caught my attention. Maybe the media is using us as a type of beta tester for their exploits. Hmmmm, interestiing. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Well, we have 8000+members. If one percent of them are vigilant, that is like having an 80 member research staff.

Very true, I've noticed too that whenever I go to a vendor for any type of support they're always 6-12 months behind in the latest driver information (if not years). I agree, its great to be 'be in the know'.
I suppose it has it's down side in that we are often the Guinea pigs of pre-releases, but hey, there are many rewards and few pitfalls of being on the bleeding edge of this sword.

p.s. A bit off topic, but I'm sure glad we have this spell checker now.
