HI,
Anyone knows how to solve the following problem. We use OUTLOOK 98 and our servers are all NT4. Some users can't see or use the option OUT OF OFFICE ASSISTANT from the TOOL menu. We know its a add-in but which one. (We tried them all and no luck) We check the TECHNET on MS site but there's no real solution. We did remove the profile and recreate another but that didnt help either. We gettin desperate. Please email me any solution at do_g@hotmail.com
thanks
George
I believe it is an optional componant in the Office setup, and is part of the Word or help options.
MS Office apps are kinda like JigSaw puzzles, if you dont do it the exact same way every time you load it, then all kinds of differences pop up.
You should try Office 2000, 4 cd's of hell!

Thanks for your reply.
I already been in hell several time with MsOffice...I think i'll stay with Office 97 for a while.
Meanwhile, anyone else have experience a similar situation and have a resolution please posted it here or email to : do_g@hotmail.com.
MSTechnNet define the problem but do not give a solution to fix.
George.

If the user is connected to the exchange server VIA internet email information service and NOT the microsoft exchange server service.. then you will not see office assistant
All of use are connected on NT4 lan using Ms Exchange Server. This problem happne only on a few users which would like to know what causes it. We are not sure re-installing Oultook 98 will fix the problem. There gotta be a solution to this, a file that we can add or something. The add-in are all installed.
Anymore suggestion.
Thanks
George

I told you what it meant..
go into outlook.. click tools, go to services.. tell me what services these users.. have.. Probably they have.. Internet Only service.. which only allows POP3.. what you are missing.. IS Exchange Server Service.. To get this you either reinstall outlook 98 and select the option exchange server service.. or extract these files
Emsabp32.dll
Emsmdb32.dll
Emsui32.dll
Emsuix32.dll
NOTE: The default location is C:\Windows\System for Windows 95/98
or C:\Winnt\System32 for Windows NT.
