This seems like the most idiotic question, but I just purchased a KT7A Raid mobo, and AMD 1 gig 266 FSB CPU. Put everything together and there is no power. I thought it might be the 250w PS, so I went and bought a 300w PS, still no juice. So I replaced all my old stuff and there is power. So I am very befuddled. I then placed the mobo in the case and just hooked up the power to get the fans to spin, still nothing.

If the fans aren't going and the drive lights don't come on - I'd say you're looking at a problem located somewhere between the power supply and the house fuse box -

Are you absolutely sure the outlet you are plugging into has juice?

Are you going through a power strip and is it turned on? Does the power strip have a fuse or reset button that needs attention?

Now for a quick laugh.....

Let me tell you about a systems support urban legand about the stupid computer user calling in complaining about no power.... - He didn't have a power outlet close enough to his computer desk so he bought one of these new "power strips" - which he promptly plugged into ITSELF - ( after all - the original instructions read to plug it in - it didn't stipulate you had to plug it into a house power outlet ) and then he plugged the monitor and CPU into the strip as well and wondered why it didn't work.....

The myth goes on to indicate the support tech told the user to return the computer as he was obviously too stupid to own one....

Then there was the documented support call of the person calling in when his computer didn't work during a black-out - I.E. - no power - but his phone worked ( phone companies have had their own power circuits for decades because public service was too unreliable ) figured his computer should work because he could get dial tone - even though the rest of his house was dark.....

This is the weird part, I avoided using a surge protector thinking that might be the problem, to make sure I turned on the lamp next to my computer, it worked, so I plugged the PS into that outlet. Now I did have an issue that I did forget to plug the Power on switch from the PS to the Mobo, but after an idiotic moment, That was cured. maybe some more insight, after the mobo was installed, alls I plugged in was the memory 128 meg just to see if the fans would spin. No go!! The only connectors I have are the reset switch, HDD Led and speaker.

PS-I did get that email about the guy telling the customer to pack the computer up, what a freaking idiot.

I don't have the same mobo but......I just put a 700 Duron system together(new everything) and well I guess this is good for a laugh. I installed everything pushed the power button and nothing. Swapped out almost everything, sent an email to tech support(they said clear CMOS) and then just when I was about to toss in the towel, I noticed the "voltage" switch on the PS was set to 220v and not 115v.... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/redface.gif
