I am planning on upgrading my system's motherboard and cpu to a dual cpu setup. My last motherboard, a BE6-II, was bought on the recommendations of this forum and I was semi-happy with it(the **** high-point controller). Anyhow now I was thinking to go with a dual cpu m/b with 2 1ghz. The thing is I want a stable board with not too many problems, especially with the ata100 controllers. I don't overclock so that factor doesn't really matter to me. I've been looking at the Asus CUV4X-D and the Abit VP6(hmmm...High-Point). Any recommendations out there? Oh yeah and another question, can I use only 1 cpu on a dual cpu motherboard until i get the second one or do i have to have 2 cpus?

Look at the new dual processor board put out by Iwill, one of the best mobo makers out there. Find them at www.Iwillusa.com (http://www.Iwillusa.com)
And, yes, as far as I know you can run just one cpu on a dual board till you get enough dough together to pick up the second cpu!
Good luck!

That's good about the single processor bit, i also heard that you can mix processors of the same family. Hmm gonna think it over for a week coz I was looking at the prices and might go with the PIV 1.3Ghz for the extra bandwidth...ends up cheaper. What would be better the PIV or dual PIII in terms of overall performance? I do some videoediting and frequently multitask. Oh yeah in the PIII I would have 256mb sdramm@133mhz of ram while in the PIV i would only have 128mb rdimm.
