Here’s how I got into trouble:

1)Swapped Hdd in PC to IBM 30gig w/ME installed.

2) System booted and appeared to be ok until I opened - Control panel/system/Device Manager

3)Yellow "!" next to "PCI Bridge Host"(or PCI to PCI Bridge, I can't recall)

4)Double clicked on it and received "System Has 2 with the same number and you will need to Flash Bios"

5)Downloaded flash utility and new Bios(AL5i107a.awd)

6)Ran AFlash.exe and started to flash bios and received "Error--Data Compare Failure"

7)Tried to flash 2 more times, then received Flash successful, Reboot.

8)Would not reboot, nothing(blank screen).

9)Removed AGP card & installed ISA video card and tried to boot again, nothing....

10)Tried a "Hot Swap" with the bios chip. Ran Aflash and same error(step 6)

11)"Hot Swapped" again and installed original bios. Same error(step 6)

So now it still won't boot and if I Hot Swap the bios chip it still won't flash, I get the same error messages(step 6).

Are there any other Bios versions I could try? Maybe another "Flash or Bios" utility? Or do I need to get a new bios chip.

Asus P5a
Rev. 1.03
Bios 1003
Flashed to bios-Al5i107a, 1011.04, 1007a and back to 1003

Thanks For your Help....

dude....you messed up...you may have to get a new motherboard...or a new bios chip....anytime you put a hard drive in your machine and it already has an os on it your risking bad trouble..as you found out....good luck...future ref here...make sure the drive you want to put in is blank...or put it on the other channel...make it a slave...seeeeee yaaaaa
