I'm upgrading my PC. I have decided on the ASUS A7M266 mobo with a 1 GHz AMD Athlon CPU. I want to take advantage of the DDR memory & I've heard ASUS is good, that's why I chose this. I haven't bought anything yet, I want some opinions of others before I do. Also, I'll be using my VooDoo3 3000 Video card (AGP). I know it's kinda old school, but it still works. The mobo should support my video card, right? Thanks in advance for the advice.
Asus is one of my favorite brands because their motherboard manuals are extremely clear and well written. Also - I've had a lot of luck at work with Asus boards. Their BIOS software is solid and I've flashed several systems without any problems.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with that video card - old school.... - it's less than 2 years old - okay okay - so maybe in this field, that's old school - it was the top thing going 20 months ago - I don't see a problem with it unless you're going to spend a lot of coin on a brand new monitor that has higher resolution settings than the card.... which I doubt if you're only doing an upgrade.
Can't speculate on the DDR memory - haven't researched it much.
