Find out here. (http://www.apbnews.com/resourcecenter/datacenter/crimecheck/result.html) Enter your 5 digit zip code and it will tell you with a 1-10 rating.

I got a 4 and where I am from is an 8.

LOL, the guy is a broken record!

Anyways, got a 5 where I grew up, 8 where I'm living now. That 5 should prob be a bit lower and that 8 prob just a tad higher.

Current residence gets 3
My university is a 4
My parent's house (and where I lived during H.S.) is awarded a 2
Amazingly, even my HS area was given a 2 (figured it'd be like a 5 or 6 considering the kind of area it was)
My childhood stomping grounds is also a 2

Guess I just skipped the crime stuff. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif Oh well... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Oh and wtf, you pull that stunt again, and you are no more around here... hope you keep that in mind the next time you think about it.

I don't take much stock in these kinda reviews. for I live on a small historical resort type island. with only two ways on and off. unless you have an airplane, helicopter or a boat. and crime is on big part of the news.

I mean we have a few murders, auto thief, robbires,""alot of drug bust"" but, that is only ever once in a while. mostly it is druncken out of towners fighting with each other or the locals fighting. and the number one is traffic related. and that is why I can't see a 5

where I grew up in my teens here off the island across the waterway got a 6 it should have gotten a 10 for it is all rich rednecks. he he

but, than again. my po box got a 6 to. one number up my house zip code and is only 1/2 mile from my house

did you all know if you mouse clicked on the map at the side it would enlarge. I can even see the road by my house. so all in all it is a pretty neat site

I found the site interesting, but I don't think it's that accurate. My zip here in Irvine got a 4. I honestly believe that should be a 1, considering how uptight this community is, and also how strong a grip the police have on the area. I actually hate the community quite a lot, but I like my school, so hey... Also, my home sweet home (L.A. county) got a 7, which seems more or less appropriate, but then again, how are the numbers determined? I'd still rather live in L.A. county.

Warren, mi got a 3, which is unheard of, since we are north of, and border, Detroit. The zip code directly south of me got a 7, hmmm...

Here in Lincoln NE, where i currently live is a 3, and my old neighborhood is a 1. I miss that place, grew up there.

"My neighborhood was so tough-- there was a kid called Floyd." -- paraphrasing ***** Allen.

Maybe some of the surprising ratings, like for Gene C's resort town, result from taking "minor" crime (shoplifting, vandalism, driving while under the influence) into account as well as violent crime.

I live and work in an 8 (New Haven, CT). Four houses down from me, a friend of ours got hit on the head with a metal pipe by people waiting to jump him when he answered the doorbell. He staggered back into his livingroom, bleeding... Fortunately he had friends visiting and the robbers ran off when they heard their voices.

This is a peaceful-looking street, only a couple of blocks away from the "safe" neighborhood where a Yale undergraduate was stabbed to death last year. The media keeps saying that it was one of the best neighborhoods in the city, which is true... and it's a five minute walk from some of the worst neighborhoods in the city, as well. Of course, it's been in the interest of the university and the city to downplay this information... they'd rather ruin the life of the major "suspect", the person who lived closest to the scene of the crime who happened to know the victim. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

There's a lot of theft (last month almost a thousand dollars of equipment was stolen from my building), drugs, and d--n stupid driving, around here, too. I think a New Haven specialty is the "optional" red light.

It makes me mad and sad, because I'd like to be proud of my home town but can't. I don't think things will get better until this area sees economic good times for an entire generation. More police, better job education, and whole-problem counseling might help, but only recently have the young people been finding better things to do than cruise around looking for trouble and drug money.

I don't think that site is very accurate. I entered the zip code of where my wife is from and it returned a 5. There are less than 500 people that live within her zipcode. I have never heard of a crime happening there.

The site itsefl says it pretty wisely:

Crime can happen anywhere. You can be a victim in the safest community, live forever without incident in a dangerous one.

Don't forget, in an uptight, small community, which is heavily policed, more crime (proportionally) will be reported and/or cleared up. I guess that's where some of the crazy figures come from.

Of course, being in the UK, we don't have crime. We're all very responsible and law-abiding citizens. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

I live in Hot Springs, Ar. I got a 6 and I think it should be much Higher in the summer and lower in the winter. We had a killing spree last year. People were dieing left and right. That is a lot for our one horse town.

My current rating is a 5, but the tiny West Texas town where I grew up has a 1! Probably because about 95 people comprise the entire zip code.
