Wanted to pass on a tip, which by the way I learned the hard way.

All of a sudden this started, and how I solved it.

Everytime I opened Windows Explorer, it would display normal directory structure, then system would start clocking(hourglass) and processor use would jump to 100%. Even after closing Exlplorer it continued to do this. Would not stop. Every 5 seconds, clocking, 100% proc use. Only way to stop it , was to reboot.

Tryed everything, unloaded all processes, reboot, reboot, reboot. You name it, i tried it short of reloading windows.

Long story short, after 3 hours of troubleshooting.

I had inserted a blank CD in burner to burn some data, then got distracted and did not do the burn. Windows Explorer was trying to read a blank CD. No error message, no nothing. I just keep trying to read the CD, apparently was doing it in cache, because drive light was not coming on.

Live and Learn. Thought this tip might save someone from hair pulling down the road.
