What's the best one in your job? I don't mean what's rewarding or fulfilling about the work you do. What is it about your job that makes it a little easier, more fun, or more comfortable for you?
For example, I teach; the biggest perk in this job is the time off. Sometimes two weeks for Christmas, usually a week for Thanksgiving, a week for Spring Break (which I'm enjoying right now), and the whole Summer (when you don't have to go to school for recertification or renewal).
How about your job?

Ok fess up, you obviously want something. Is it the noodles thread? If so, I'm sure we can arrange to have Scott reopen it for your pure posting pleasure.

w = will
t = truly
f = fail or fall as a member
being self-employed and being able to make my own desions. even if they are wrong sometimes.
not haveing someone else to turn to when I have a problem or downfalls and have to stand on my own two feet. even tho sometimes one might be in my mouth or kicking me.
but, the most is the feeling of pride to be able to help others who are starting out in a first time business adventure in life.

First my prior jobs.
Working at the garage/gas station was great. I served many functions there but was mainly in charge of brain work, ie clerk.
1. parts at cost
2. always a lift and tools to use when I wanted them.
3. vending items at cost (case of gatorade etc.)
4. always a tow if I needed one (never did)
5. people more then willing to do side jobs on my car when I couldn't handle them.
6. Guys that work at garages can be **** funny.
Autozone:
perk| 20% discount
non-perk| turnover, I was 2nd highest other then management after 8 months and the guy higher then me was retired working part time there. Had 4 different head managers in a year. That was with a staff of about 20.
Menards(lumberyard/home improvment): $2.50 an hour extra on weekends on top of already good pay, tons of OT, flexible schedule, job included free membership at onsite fitness club, hot chicks at the registers!
current job.
Lab job on campus (in-depth soil analysis): poor pay, but I work my own schedule, very flexible. Nice people.

well owning own biz in many ways has more downsides than up, like dealing with IRS, irrate customers, who after you calm down find that most of the problems with system they have are caused by what they have done when loading software, or even trying to run a system with W98 on for a year with out a defrag!!!!!!
But there are some, invtes to launches of new products, etc.
MS being one of the best in this area, like free copies of W2K, or Office 2000 Prem. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Stock Options!!!
hmmm well I would say free lunches - not just student cafeteria **** - we get the same as the college fellows - but I would prefer the money.
the best thing is high-speed permanent internet (it's a university) and free parking in a busy city centre to go shopping etc at weekends (cool electric gates!)
sad isn't it?
oh yeah, almost forgot the stuff I take for granted - I have a 20'x10' basement office with a garden view to myself, and listen to the radio all day...

My job as a computer resources guy is cool because:
1) I can get parts CHEAP.
2) My supervisor often gives me FREE stuff.
3) I do my job really half-assed, and I still get all my work done right, and the boss thinks I'm great.
4) I'm doing what I like.
My other job as a tutor SUCKS. I mean no disrespect to people who don't understand their material, and heck, I was there too, but it's very discouraging to have to explain things over and over. Whatever, it's more funding in my pocket, going toward my next upgrade/system.

Knowing no one can feed me a line of BS because I know it all, at least, about the work I do. Not trying to convey superiority,
but there are some who talk a good job but that's all it is, just talk.
