my system:
abit bh6 bios "ss"
celeron 700mhz
320mb ram
2 hdd
1 cdrw
1 cdrom
1 floppy drive

what i did was: i updated the wrong bios "sp" (which was for the abit bh6 rev. 1.1 only) on my abit bh6 motherboard.
the result is my system does not boot at all. it seems like no bios found.

please advise!!!

thanks in advance.

(i'm posting this from my brother's pc)

As far as I know, you don't really have a choice here. Maybe it's the time for you to upgrade your motherboard. I myself had bad experince with updating bios, ending up a bad motherboard. I had to send it back to the online retailer and get an exchange since mine was still under warranty. Since then, I have installed a new device called BIOS savior, http://direct.mwave.com/mwave/doc/A06950.html, to back up my bios. It works perfectly. Here is an idea, it might be feasible that you install this device in your friend's computer and reflash your bios chip.
Good luck.

Unless you have a "boot block" BIOS, U R SCREWED !!! A boot block BIOS has some extra code that is not touched when you flash, just in case you hose yourself as you have done. However, your mobo manual will tell you how to activate it if you have it. Otherwise, you have two options: (1) get a new BIOS chip from the mobo manufacturer, (2) get a new mobo. Good luck.

thanks a lot for your reply.

i've reached my retailer and ended to upgrade my mombo to a new abit vh6ii.

i think i've learned how very careful i have to be when flashing my bios!

Gee, too bad you have already updated. I could have reflashed your BIOS using my BH-6 rev 1 board using the hot-flash procedure.

The BH-6 Rev 1 has the small square Award BIOS which is different from the large rectangular shaped one used on the BX-6 and BP-6 boards.

I flashed my BX-6 Rev 2 BIOS using the BP-6 .bin program and I had to hot-flash using the BX-6 Rev 2 board.

Try the boot block procedure mentioned above
Take out your battery and press the conductors to short them out
try a reboot
plug in an isa video card if you have one
create a bootable disk with an autoexec.bat
in the autoexec run your flash program with your original backup
