Was the Gateway Vs. Others a bad Question to ask?

Not at all, if you feel confident building you own than its a good idea. If you just want to buy a complete system, than Gateway is a pretty good choice.

thats my opinion

it was a good question, but i recommend custom computers if ur advanced enough, but i think HP, Compaq, or Dell is the best for brand names, i recommend Compaq (even though i make fun of it).

I can't bring myself to recommend Comcrap or HP. Other than building your own, I'd say Dell is top, with Gateway right below it. I've compared similar systems and Dell offered the best price and some better quality parts. The 3 year parts warranty is great, along with the 1 year (can pay more for more years) "send a guy over to fix computer" deal.

I don't recomend Hp. My neighbor has one. They don't even give you a OS disk. Just one cd with everything on it and two choices. format or reinstall drivers. The way I see it she bought win with the computer but if she bought another computer she couldn't use the windows that she bought. This isn't right. They might have changed this by now.

I agree w/ (A-10) Warthog. Compaq and HP are somewhere between incredibly difficult and impossible to upgrade. By comparision, Dell computers are a blessing. I've purchased 5 desktops from them in the past 4 years and not a single problem yet. Not 1. (1 inspiron though, which has given me a few headaches....)
