Stumped but what is new?

I am assembling a Shuttle Hot 591p. I can get it to boot with a Intel 233 and when I jumper it for and install a K6-2/450 the PC speaker screames at me. I am using AT power with PC 100 ram and manualy setting the core V. This board requires you to jumper the FSB. I have the ram jumpered to run at the clock speed which should not be a problem with the PC 100. Could there be a problem with the bios flash and the K6's?

I know that board works with AMD chips I've installed hundreds of them.

Be very careful and read the volatage on the top of the CPU. AMD made those things in 2 flavors a 2.2v and a 2.4v. If you run the 2.2 at 2.4 it will work but not last very long The reverse combination may not work at all.

The 2.4v chip draw's an unusually high amount of current. how big a power supply and what else is connected to it?

Are you sure that the CPU works?

Well bdunn you got me scaried there for a minute but both the amd 450 I tried work on my p5a. I am writing this on a Hot 591 with a amd 500. I flashed the bios with 591ps024.bin and the screaming speaker changed to a beeping speaker. I think that is the newest bios update for the board. Have any other ideas?
