Hmmm...I dunno if the problem lies with the keyboard or the operating system (win98), but you know when you're at the desktop screen right...whenever my friend types a letter, for say the *r* button...windows loads the RUN function, while other buttons are linked to the launching of other proggies.
He dunno what happened to his computer cause his girlfriend was playing around with it days ago....maybe she created some shortkeys???
I don't really know myself as I've never encounter such a situation. Please help if you know how to solve this mystery... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
Appreciate it.

Hey Plucky,
I had the same thing happen to me a few weeks back. I was gonna post about it but I solved it. I am not sure if I remember how, but check the windows button on your keyboard. I don't remember if mine was stuck or if I just had to smack it a few times, but give that a try.

yup, it sounds like you 'windows' key(s) are stuck. kinda hammer on them with one of your fingers ... tap tap tap tap tap. that will usually loosen it back up and fix your problem.

Psyklone is right on about this. Usually a key is stuck when this scenerio happens. When it occurs, I just press every key across the bottom of the keyboard, and problem disapears.
I would also go ahead and clean the suspect keyboard with compressed air, as small particles of dust and lint can cause keys to stick.

Maybe the girlfriend spilled a soft drink on the keyboard and tried to clean up w/o letting on.
I use something called KeyKleen, little swabs with a mild solvent in the pad. We get it from our office supply vendors.
