Ok , I bought this 30 GB WD 5400 rpm to install on this AZZA PT-51VH MoBo, with a Pentium 200 cpu. I used the Data Lifeguard disk provided with the hd to check the bios. The utility says it wont support that large of a HD.
Questions 1. I cant find a bios upgrade listed for this board on the AZZA website.
Thought I might try Intels website for some kind of IDE driver or something but no luck, dont think that will help the bios problem anyway.
Question 2 The mobo manual says specifically will support drives up to 8.4 gb, so would it work to partition this thing into 4 parts? Would it recognize the smaller parts then ?
This machine will probably not do much more than simple stuff like basic games and play music and if I cant make it work I can always put the drive in one of my other computers or buy something used that will work but if I dont have too......Thanks

You will need to install the cylinder limitation jumper on the hard drive. The BIOS will see it as an 8gb (if all goes well) and you will then need to install the BIOS overlay off of the WD disk.

What Nighthawk said is what you need to do if you can not find a BIOS upgrade.

Yep no BIOS update (http://www.azzaboard.com/download.html)

You will need to either do what was said above or buy an IDE controller card or motherboard. If you do not want to do the any of the above you are SOL.

I got the 30 gb installed, used the EZ BIOS from WD, alternate jumper setting as suggested too. Loaded Win98 on it. It wont ever completely load Windows, it hangs up on the screen that shows pci configuration and the rest of my hardware, a c:/ shows at the bottom of the screen but it just sits there. If I reset it, it will boot up and let me load win into the safe mode but thats all . I try to restart and it goes back into that hanging up thing. Cant I go into safe mode , run msconfig, and somehow figure out what the hang up is? Also when I was in safe mode I was able to get in to see the properties of "c" and it shows it as a 30 gb hd....any suggestions? even my hair(what i havent pulled out) is starting to hurt....also , the only card i have in is a
pci s3 virge dx video card, a 36x cd also,64 mb pc100 ram
