My floppy disk on my computer has chucked a fit ...

I rebooted one of my computers tonight and it came up with the following
error :

"floppy disk(s) fail (40)"

then I reboted another computer of mine (on the same network) and again out
of nowhere the same error.

However the third computer in my network does not have the same error

PLEEEEASE HELP i have never seen this error before !!

I recall seeing that but it's been some time. Of course, by now you've checked connections. Try clearing the CMOS and redoing Setup.

you cant ake the battery out and short it. (place it on a metal surface to do that) then put it back in. when you boot up again it will give you a cmos error. go into your bios and set all your parameters.

GroundZero3's answer is a bit ambiguous. What you would short is the battery socket.

Most boards have a jumper that you move and move back to discharge the "keep alive" capacitor that maintains CMOS data while the battery is removed for replacement. If you can't find the jumper, use something metal to make contact with the two mobo connector surfaces that the battery touches when it's in there.
