Has anyone gotten the ATA66 to work on a PC Chips M598 board? The manual says it is supported but I can't get it to run. Windows ME DMA is enabled, ATA66 IDE cable w/ blue end on board, WD 30gb is only device on the cable, used Western Digital utility to ascertain that the ATA66 is enabled on the drive, newest bios rev. 3-15-99. I begin to wonder if this board doesn't support ATA66.

I ran Sisoft Sandra Hard Drive Benchmark and got a score of 8000 compared to 14,600 for my other machine that is running ATA66 on a new Epox 8KTA3. Hard Drive Tach 2.52 shows Burst Read speed on the M598 of 24mbs and goes off the scale on the Epox, somewhere in excess of 38mbs.
Also the M598 showed 60% cpu utilization in HD Tach and the Epox showed 4%.

On my M598 I couldn't use the ATA66 IDE cable. It wouldn't fit. I assumed it would only run at ATA33.

I have been looking for a long time to purchase an M598 with a blue IDE connector that would hopefully support ATA66. You are the first person I have ever heard of who has such a board. What revision level is it? To support ATA66/100 I have a Hot Rod 100 Pro on my M598v5.1a

My M598 board doesn't have the blue IDE connector, it's just the standard plain white color. But this board was made when ATA66 was brand new. The board revision number is 7.0A. I'm assuming the board will run ATA66 because the manual states that it will run Ultra DMA 33 and 66. But I'm beginning to think maybe the manual is not exactly accurate. I do have an ATA66 IDE cable plugged into the drive and board, it seemed to plug in with no problems. This is why I asked if anyone else got this feature to work on the M598.
