Breathing new life into an old Dell, I am replacing a Dell P2 333 ATX LX motherboard with a ASUS CLSU2-C. I already checked if it would physically fit, it does. My question is with the power switch. I assume if the standards have not changed, the Dells ribbon cable layout will match the pin layout of the ASUS board. The ASUS has a set of two extra pins, but these are for a keyboard lock and SMI. Any ideas? Maybe I should get off my **** and replace the case.

Howdy, from what I read, ATX is pretty well standardized now...so, it should work just fine. If your older ATX board / power supply has been around awhile, I think I would review the pin voltages and see for sure that each wire from the power supply goes to the standard socket connections. I would think so..but, being a Dell...there is no real way to know without checking it out. Dell as well as other propritary system makers sometimes did funny things to their 'special' made boards and other components. If the wires go to the correct pins in the socket, and the new board has a place to connect the supply to it, there should be no problem.
