I am having a problem flashing my bios. I have downloaded the AMI utility and the ROM file from PCware. I booted the system from a floppy and at the "A" prompt, I typed the utility file name followed by the ROM file name (both files are on the floppy). An error follows indicating a missing file. I tried running the utility file alone (without following the command with the
ROM file name) and got the same error message. The ROM file has more than 8 characters and I don't know if the lpong file name is causing the the error. I need help..... Can I rename the ROM file to a shorter file name without corrupting the flashing operation???

I ran into a similar problem. Try getting a new d/l from pcchips.com. Look at the board near the keyboard connector and check the board revision number [1.3 or 3.0] PC Chips has these rom files, 0807s.rom or 0728s.rom. D/L the correct flash utility for your bios, AMI or Award. This should work.

You guys need to get the BIOS that matches your board revision (see next to keyboard connector), after download check for proper file size (131,072 bytes), AND use an AMIFLASH.EXE 6.xx. The newer 7.xx or 8.xx ones do not support all the older types of FlashROM chips anymore. Boot directly to plain DOS, no drivers loaded.

Turning the USB controllers off for the flash process isn't a bad idea either.
