Hi Folks,
Just set up a new PC with a DFI PA61 (D2) mobo. With just the 8MB AGP card in it, it boots fine, loads Win2k, and runs like a champ. As soon as I add any PCI card in any slot, the video goes south and I get the video error beeps at boot up. I've checked and rechecked the jumpers to no avail. And speaking of jumpers, the board has jumpers labelled JP2 and JP3 right next to each other. The manual makes no mention whatsoever of a JP3. The mobo itself has a small chart printed on it with JP2 and JP3 and it appears they work together, yet there's nothing in the manual about JP3. Also, the settings recommended by the chart on the mobo seem to contradict the settings recommended in the manual. What gives? Anyone else had this problem?

I'm beginning the think DFI means Defective From Installation. Should have gone with an ASUS like my last build. No problems at all with that one.

I would first check for conflicts between the card(s) you are installing and the video card. Did they all work together on a different mobo? Even if they did, can you try a different video card? That would be my first suggestion. In my one and only experience with a DFI mobo, it did not work well with an ATi video card. I ended up taking both back and going in a different direction.

Ha! Funny you should mention that, I do have an ATI gfx card. Doesn't matter, though. I'm trading the DFI for an ASUS P3V4X. My last build used one and hasn't so much as hiccupped. It seems the DFI board wouldn't work with some PIIIs, especially the 667. Just so happens that's what I have. Back to the drawing board. Thanks anyway. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
