NASA TV: NASA scientists and astronauts discuss the status of the shuttle as the launch date of Monday, April 24 approaches. Via streaming video from MSNBC.

I hit an EarthWeb banner in one of these forums and it took me to http://www.msnbc.com/m/lv/default.asp?o=10&s=0&p=2

Some pretty fascinating stuff about the orbiting spacestation, the upcoming Shuttle mission, and everything related to it.

Great view of the cockpit,

I know I'll be looking up when that baby goes http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif. Living in Central Florida I have seen most of the launches first hand anywhere from my backyard, on the beach to the Indian River. let me tell ya, the thrill of the rumble and the crackle of those engines is something that gives me chills everytime. Its those sonic booms that rock me outa bed that I can do without...lol. Well, actually the booms aren't that bad http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif its nice to know the crew are back(or almost back)on the Earth.

Oh yea, if you get a chance at seeing a night lanch... by all means dont miss it http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

That new cockpit is a switch. I was a shuttle commander at space academy one summer, I think 1987. It was kind of a lot of guages and switches but they did have a little logic behind them. Everything was divided into pannels with letters and numbers which made the checklists easy to work with.
Megabyte, I'm jelous. I never got to see a launch!

That's some exciting stuff! I've only seen one shuttle launch (in person). I was in Titusville, FL, on the shoreline across from KSC. Amazing.

Coming from a fellow (future) Astronaut, u just hit my soft spot for information! I love any and all info. about Space/Astronomy. I plan on being the 1st (or atleast one of the 1st humans on Mars!), call it ambition http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
If anyone else is interested in space-related info. check out this site: http://www.space.com
Very interesting, it also has a link to Nasa TV where u can actually view it using Real Player or Windows Media Player. A while ago I watched a whole shuttle mission as they repaired the Hubble Space Telescope (not every second of it http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

update: not today!!! http://www.space.com/news/spaceshuttles/shuttle_scrubbed_000424.html

and yes it is a site to see. I had a wife that worked for USBI and we lived down there from 1982/1989. saw all the night liftoffs from our back yard.
sad, but true. we even saw the blow up. in person and on video tape. they tape all the take offs and landings.

Yeah, it turns out that my dad is in Florida right now (tonight, just arrived, on business) and he was kinda sad he wasn;t going to catch the launch but as soon as he found out it was booted for tomorrow he was relieved, he's pretty sure he'll make it, so I'm lookin forward for some pictures when he gets back.
HE DIDN"T take me with him though...it's a business trip, and I still have school, but still...I have never seen a single launch, and being a SPACE buff that something I should've already done. Well theres always the next STS mission, after all I plan on being on that MARS mission...HEADLINES: 1st HUMAN ON MARS then my name appears across the headlines (thought I was going to reveal my name, eh? ahh who cares http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I'll be sure to check out the mission via internet/satellite/NASA TV

If I don't catch it though, let us know how the launch went. BTW, everyone who's interested in space check out that site I listed, they just updated it and they have a "Library of Congress" load of information in there.
Have a good one...

It's very exciting, I've seen the Shuttle land out here, but have never seen a launch - an awesome thing that must be!

I hope they make it off the Earth today and Godspeed them on their mission.

Thanks for those great links too, guys. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
