This $69 Epox mobo looks like a deal.. BUT

Anyone used it or had knowledge of it ??

Add the "C" note 800mhz T-bird and it might do OK

Or should I wait for a deal on a Duron..

Did they get this right,, a Slot board with a T-Bird ??

No, sorry. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

Only the 'classic' slotA Athlons work on this mainboard. For Durons and Tbirds (socketA) you need a socketA board. The reason why this mobo is so cheap is because slotA processors aren't made anymore (the mobo's not either probably).

You can find Tigerdirect's list with socketA mainboards here (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Category/category_slc.asp?id=120705) .

I just saw the deal you posted on the 800 SlotA Tbird. Still, it doesn't work on that EpoX board. SlotA Tbirds work only on mainboards using an AMD chipset. The EpoX uses the VIA KX-133. I've tried a Tbird on a KX133 board, and my computer locked up all the time, I couldn't even get Windows installed.

If you want that slotA Tbird, I think you'd best look for a deal on the Giga-Byte 7IXE (http://www2.giga-byte.com/products/ga7ixe.htm) . This mobo is approved by AMD up to Tbird 1ghz (the fastest slotA processor available). There are 2 other mainboards approved by AMD for the Tbird 800: http://www1.amd.com/athlon/mbl/index/1,1503,,00.html .

Don't buy a board that isn't listed! If you buy one that isn't listed, your system will probably be very unstable. It is possible to get it quite stable sometimes, but often not. Also, it takes a lot of hours of tweaking to get it that stable and performance will decrease in exchange for that little extra stability. Just another warning. <IMG SRC="http://server2044.virtualave.net/r0nald/ubb/biggrin.gif" border=0>

My two cents..

I have two of these epox motherboards, as follows, I am very happy with them and would give them a thumbs up.

#1 Epox 7KXA
900 classic o/c to 1035 (900 x 115)
GeForce 256 DDR
128megs generic ram (one stick)
20 gig ATA66 7200 rpm W/D
CD rom, zip drive

#2 Epox 7KXA+
950 classic o/c to 1102 (950 x 116)
GeForce2 GTS
256 megs generic ram (two sticks)
20 gig ATA66 7200 rpm W/D
CD rom

Both are rock stable. But, get the Epox 7KXA+ rather than just the 7KXA as it has higher fsb choices as well as different cpu voltage selector choices.

According to the Tweaktown web site, these motherboards will, although not officially, support the slot T-Birds. ??? I know that some KX chipset motherboards will & some will not. One of these days I am going to have to answer that question for myself!

Good luck!
