I recently bought a PIII 550 and went into the CMOS to set up my USB ports, when i rebooted my machine it went dead.

I reset my cmos and when i booted it came up as a PIII 366! By going back into the CMOS and overclocking the processor I got it back to 550.

Is this standard or have i been ripped off?

Thank you to anyone who responds to this!!

No PIII's aren't lower than 450mhz.It would seem that instead of 100mhz FSB the mobo reverted back to 66. 5.5X100=550,5.5X66=363(it would report 366).
Change you cmos to 100mhz FSB.That should fix that.
By the way this post should have been put in the Technical support channel.
