I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes...

I have an Abit BX6-R2 board, with a Samsung SV1022D Boot drive and a Maxtor 92040UG files drive. Both of these are 5,400 RMP drives which are UDMA 66 capable. This board, of course, only runs UDMA-33 and the drives are set appropriately. Here's the rub...

When I go to the Device Manager in Contol Panel, and click the checkbox next to DMA, I get the usual warnings and then the reboot, which I do. I reopen the Device manager and the checkboxes have been cleared. The board is using the Intel busmastering drivers, appropriate to the board.

Am I just overlooking something stupidly obvious, missing a driver, or what? Neither manufacturer's website seems to offer a driver to enable or disable DMA. Any thoughts are welcome

Tom:

I may be mistaken, but I believe if the DMA "unchecks" it is because the devices are not able to take advantage of DMA. I'd direct inquires to the manufacturer of the drives.
