I would like to thank Roy for his info but it was too late I had already followed Goethe's advice and totally screwed up. Now it is in the shop. But I really do appreciate the advice.

What went wrong? The information given to you to erase ( format ) your hard drive was correct. After formating the drive you would have had to re install your operating system with your bootable floopy and your installation cd. Then install any programs that you want to use.
