Find info. on old motherboards

I get old motherboards try to find the info. to make a computer. I have trouble finding the info. on the board, like the manufactor of the board to get all information I need. I try reading the numbers on board but can't get anywhere, what books and sites could help me. If any person could give me ideas I would be thankful.
