I just bought this M/B and it was kinda by accident. I thought I was getting a UDMA66 controler when in fact I got the 100. Will my ATA66 WD drive work on this M/B? I just tried connecting it to the UDMA100 port as a master. Set the bios to autodetect but says no primary master connected. If I let the computer stand for about two min. while it displays ;scanning for devices; the c: prompt will eventually appear and the drive is usable. Going back to the bios setup it still says no drive is there. Also, I cant get Win98 to go through a complete install without hanging. Any help is much appreciated.

It should pick it up with no problems. ATA/100 is backwards compatable with ATA/66 and ATA/33. I would check for power, Data cable connections, etc to see if thats the problem.

Went through and check evrything and all seems fine. I can use the c: drive but my POST screen says there isn't one. Also Win98 will not install past the first reboot. It gets back up to the splash screen where it says preparing to run Win for the first time and that as far as she goes. I never used this RAID controler before. Could this be causing some kind of a problem?

Did you install the Highpoint 370 controllers. Your bios will not detect your hard drive when connected to the DMA IDE connector. The Highpoint controllers have to be installed first. Connect your hard drive to the primary IDE connector first then install the Highpoint controllers. Then switch it to the primary DMA IDE and the drive should be detected by the Highpoint BIOS. I had the same problem with my BE6-2 but the fine folks here helped me find this solution. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. This computer is at work now and I'm at home so I cant try anything until tomorrow. I have tried connecting my hard drive to one of the black UDMA33 connectors and it told me the drive wasn't ready. I used the standard UDMA33 cable for this, should I have used the blue ATA100 cable? Also I'm not sure I follow you on loading the drivers. Windows is not installed yet. Do I load the HotRod100 drivers in DOS or what. I know there are ATA66 drivers on CD also. Which should I use and how should I use them? I'm sorry for all the stupid questions but I never had this kind of problem before. I have a BE6-2 in my home computer but it doesn't use RAID. I quess what I'm asking is, Do I load the drivers from CD or the HotRod drivers from floppy and do I do it in DOS.

Thanks for your info and Patience
