A real easy quick question I hope...
I'm installing an Unknown-make internal 56k modem that I took out of a Compaq in to another PC, but I have no drivers whatsoever, and the manufacturer site has none available. Is there a generic 56k driver in Win98se I can use, since I don't "have disk"? Thanks!

did you take all modems out of device mamager. install the modem and let windows pick it up and load it.
if it didn't pick it up. than most likey it is a non plug/play modem.
either post here or e-mail me
some model/make/ and some numbers off the chips and I'll see if I can find you some.

If all comes to worse, simply copy down the FCC number on the modem and enter it into this database: http://www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid/
It'll identify who the manufacturer is. From there you can figure out what their website is and download the appropriate drivers and/or .inf file.
By the way, this database will work for any electrical appliance or part and is not limited to just computer equipment.
