Steve jlowell 01-15-2001, 10:57 AM saw it at tccomputers.com stevenvee 01-15-2001, 11:39 AM Thanks but not the board I am looking for. This is the board I cannot find. <A HREF="http://www.abit.com.tw/english/index.htm" TARGET=_blank>http://www.abit.com.tw/english/index.htm</A> [ KT7A-RAID ] - AMD Socket A Based ATXMainboard With Ultra DMA 100 & SoftMenuTMIII& RAID 0/1/0+1Technology [This message has been edited by stevenvee (edited 01-15-2001).] big donkey 01-15-2001, 01:15 PM check www.atacom.com (http://www.atacom.com) they have both the KT7 Raid ($144) and the KT7A Raid ($164). im not sure if they are in stock or not though, they dont have a status on the website from what I saw. I was planning on getting the K7T Raid until I heard about the KT7A. Even though the processor Ill be getting will be 1Ghz or less tbird, should I spend the extra $20 now to get the KT7A? Or should I wait and see what problems may occur with this board since it is new and not as tested? Its my understaning that the KT7A can handle a FSB of 133Mhz. Is that the only difference? What is the top FSB of the KT7, just 100Mhz? AuraEdge 01-15-2001, 04:13 PM I just ordered up a KT7A-RAID from Atacom today. Got the confirmation, so it all looks alright so far. The KT7, along with any KT133 board, is only stable up to 112Mhz FSB or so. The KT133a is guarenteed stable to 133Mhz, and stable up to about 150Mhz or so (maybe more). jlowell 01-15-2001, 04:20 PM right. KT7A with or without raid has the new kt133a chipset and 133 fsb. kept up well in the tests against new DDR boards too. No point in buying a KT7 now that the A version is out. hardly any difference in price. stevenvee 01-16-2001, 05:57 AM This is a quote from Abit press release date 12/21/00: "Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C. Thursday, December 21, 2000— ABIT today announces that the popular Socket A motherboards, KT7 and KT7-RAID, are getting an upgrade to the new KT133A chipset from VIA Technologies, Inc. The KT7 and KT7-RAID, the best-performing and most feature-packed motherboards available for Athlon and Duron processors, gain two all-important features from this change: official support for 266MHz front side bus Athlons, and Ultra DMA/100 support on the two native IDE channels. The revisions of these motherboards to this chipset are the KT7A and KT7A-RAID. " Notice support for 266 mhz fsb not 133! Should be a screamer. masterquigon 01-26-2001, 05:10 AM try this URL: http://www.kmelektronik.de/root/shop4/sh4.html in the Menu on the left, chose mainboards, the abit, then take a look! stevenvee 01-26-2001, 06:23 AM Ich sprechen ein veinig Deutch. JZ 01-30-2001, 06:12 AM Go to http://www.pricewatch.com/ enter Abit KT7A RAID under search. Bammo. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/biggrin.gif stevenvee 01-30-2001, 06:17 AM Thanks guys. Bought it $161.95 at ATACOM. Delivered yesterday. MickMitani 02-03-2001, 03:07 PM stevenvee - the Athlon takes the FSB clock and performs an access on the rise of the square wave and another on the wave fall - giving an effective cpu-to-memory FSB of twice the true FSB. So your 266mhz listed in the press release is the effective FSB. The true FSB is 133mhz, as stated by jlowell. stevenvee 02-04-2001, 11:38 AM You are correct Sir. I apologize for my stupidity.
