Hey all.
Just a quick question.
I've got an Asus A7V with a T-bird 900mhz, and am currently using some no-name pc100 SDRAM(192MB).I've ordered a 256mb dimm (pc133) from Crucial. My question is will my system auto detect the new memory as pc133, or will I need to manually set it up in the BIOS?
Thanks.

Most boards (BIOSs) don't care. If there's a memory problem, you'll get a message.

Some boards will not accept a 256MB stick, I assume yours will?

Hey
Thanks for the reply. This particular motherboard will allow for a 512mb dimm in each of it's 3 slots(for a total of 1.5GB).
See ya.

On my KT7 I had to change the Memory speed to Host + PCI clock to get it to run at 133. I am not familiar with the A7V, but I'd guess you would have change a setting to run it at 133.

The A7V defaults to 100 mhz memory bus, you have to change to 133 in the bios.

Hey Caddmannq
I've been chasing some problems I've had with this Asus A7V/T-bird 900mhz rig I put together.I've read some real horror stories about the A7V.Some boards work like a dream and some are real buggy.
I'm hoping this new(quality)memory will get rid of the problems I'm having(crashes while playing 3-d games and surfing the net).
If not..... then I quess I'll start shopping around for another board, like an Abit or Epox.
See ya.

Hey All
Just an update.
I got my new memory (Crucial 256MB PC133 CAS2) today and installed it. Booted the system and waited......and waited...rebooted and still nothing. No beeps, nothing on the monitor, nothing. Reinstalled the no-name memory(192mb, PC100)and went into the BIOS and changed the memory freq. to 133mhz. Reinstalled the Crucial memory(took the no-name stuff out).Rebooted, and still nothing.
I did a quick change of motherboards(Asus K7V/Athlon 600mhz{slot 1} and put the Crucial memory in the K7V.
It fired right up(at 100mhz)so I went into the BIOS and changed the freq. to 133mhz.
Everythings coming up roses now.
I guess the A7V is bad. Now I need to find a motherboard for my T-Bird 900mhz. Any suggestions?

WAIT A MINUITE!!!
I've juss brought a pc133 128mb for my Abit VL6 and I had a pc33 32mb in there before(I know, I'm alittle behind), are some of you saying that I might have to mess around in the bios to get the 128mb to run at the speed?
