I'm looking to by a new motherboard. I would like to know if anyone can give me some suggestions on a good one to purchase. I have a PCchips board now and I'm looking to upgrade for ~$250 or less. I would like to get a board with a fast bus. By the way does it really matter about the bus speed? I have a pc100 bus now (I think, at least that's the type RAM I use), can you get one with something higher then pc133 and what type/speed RAM would you use?

Thanks for any help!

Vic

We need some more info to help you.

List all of your current system specs and then list what you are looking for in a new motherboard.

Thanx

Yes you can get higher spped RAM than PC133, you can get DDR Memory that can support speeds of up to 266MHz. But that would be a bit out of your price range.

this a PC Chips board (648m, I think) and I really don't care much for it!!

If that board you have doesn't have integrated VGA, then you won't gain any noticeable speed by replacing it ... PC133 SDRAM doesn't bring that much over PC100.

Well, I would suggest the ASUS P3B-F motherboard.

It can run FSB speed of up to 150MHz but only offically supports up to 100MHz.

I am using this board on my Pentium III 700E and I find it prefferable to every other board I own. Take a look at it.
