I am interested upgrading to the fastest processor for my ABIT BH6 Mobo. I am currently running a PII 350 and am quite happy with the performance. But, any additional speed I can gain would be great.

I heard that the PIII 600 is the fastest the Mobo will accept.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Brian

[ BH6 Rev. 1.1 ]
!!!Attention!!! This BIOS update is for the BH6 Rev. 1.1 ONLY!!!
For the BH6 please go here: BH6
Since there are two different key versions (One is the version 1.0x series,
the other one is the version 1.1 and newer series) it's very important to
know how to recognize which mainboard version you have before upgrading
your board's BIOS. How can you tell? There are two ways www.abit.com http://www.abit-usa.com/english/index.htm

i got the Abit BH6 rev 1.0 and if im not mistaken, the latest bios update will hold up to a 850mhz PIII. I checked the Abit site, but it looks like the BIOS page for this board is gone or down for now. but im positive it will hold a 850mhz because i am currently running a Celeron 566@850 (100x8.5)right now in mine. im almost sure the rev 1.1 board is teh same so check to make sure which version you have. It should tell you on the sticker that is on the last ISA slot on the motherboard. i hope this info helps a little.

I've got a BH6 rev 1.01. With the BIOS currently on it, if I remember right, if you go into manual mode you can go up to 100mhz FSB and the multiplier goes up to 11.0. I don't know if you can use the two together (I never tested) but those would get you past 1 GHz if they worked.

I've installed mobos in the past, but have never performed a bios update. I checked the abit-usa site for bios info on the BH6 and discovered that I have the v1.01 bios. Also, my current id is GY.

My question is, can I simply upgrade to the latest bios for the v1.01 BH6. Or, do I have to stay with the same bios id of GY for any particular reason? The current id=GY has a date of 11/1998 which is when I installed the mobo and bios. So, I assume I can go with the latest and greatest bios which has an id of SS...correct?

I appreciate your help.

Thanks,
Brian

I have a BH6 with BIOS dated 05/25/99. I can manually set the multiplier up to 8, although, according to my manual this board only supports up to a PIII 500 or celeron 466.

Abit site says Celeron 700, PIII 600. And yes, flash the SS bios.
