I would like to put a Creative Labs Annihilator 2 MX PCI Video Card in my older AMD K6 200 MHZ Computer. I have a M-TEch Model R533 Motherboard that uses the Triton VX Chipset. I have been unable to locate any info on this board and the Creative Video card I am looking at requires a PCI 2.1 Complient Slot. Do you know if this board is 2.1 Compliant and will work Ok with this card? Also what is the main differance between version 2.1 and 2.0? Thank You

I really doubt that the 200mhz CPU can drive that card. Or at the very least give you much improvement? I cant find anything on the setup myself. But that is quite a nice card to get lost in such a slow system....no offence intended.

The particular game I am trying to get to work better is Everquest. I am getting a good deal of video lag. Mostly with my mouse when in the game. I am trying to get another 6 Months of life out of my machine and with my board maxed out to its 128 MB RAM limit. I am thinking the only other thing I can do for a little better gaming is a video card upgrade. I am thinking the Creative Labs Annihilator 2 MX PCI 32 MB Card will help me a bit in video performance over my 8 MB Viper V330 I now have. At $120 I figure the Annihilator 2 could be a reasonable solution to get me a little more time with this system. What does everyone think?
hmm....... ermmmmm.... gF2 MX on K6-200 ?! And only for one game ?
Can't you upgrade a little ? http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
To check if your mobo is PCI 2.1 compliant, download Sisoft Sandra and run PCI/AGP information module, you'll see it there ...

Weren't 430VX mobos limited to caching only the first 64MB of RAM installed? You might hit a couple of brick walls trying to upgrade that mobo. You'd need a better CPU and lots of RAM to run the vid card.
My old VX was PCI2.1 compliant, so yours might be. PCI 2.1 came out before the VX chipset did, so its probably OK in any case.
