Blue bolt from above...Hah!

More like booty seeking S. Africans that jacked one too many bolts from the support structure and POOF, the "blue bolt of death".

That'll teach all those high thinkers what for. The next time theyshould put the telescope on a deserted and very inaccessible island somewhere in the middle of the Indian Ocean, rather than at grond zero of the blue bolt thingy!

I don't know what to say, that was so udderly stupid I just don't know what these people are smoking in their crack-pipes. Obviousle, it was the Algore for President campaign.

Well people,after reading the article,I pointed it out to my wife who is an avid Seti fan and she investigated it and found out from Seti that the story is 20 years old and she then fired an e-mail to the register about this and they said that it was all in fun,but she found no humour in it.
Well at least she wasn't angry with me. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Well the story is 20years old but how did the telescope get destroyed?
I know it would not be aliens so was it sabotage or some natural phenomenom?

This is what the people at Seti said,
quote;
no truth to that story. the photo is from a telescope that broke 20 years ago in a big storm.

Sounds like Unsecured Loner's cell phone zapper experiment must've gotten way out of hand. Who could have anticipated that it would take the form of a blue bolt from above? LOL http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Actually, I was responsible for the bolt from the blue..I back-fed the PS in my overclocked celeron from the cmos battery, it surged to the nuclear power plant that is hooked to the local grid,which in turn caused a massive power spike to come back to my house,which caused my dss receiver to invert causing a plasma beam to eminate from my dish.This then went back up to the DBS bird geo-synchronus over the equator at 110* west and it beamed down and smoked the dish belonging to seti. OOPS! sorry about that...
See, everything can be explained,can't it? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
Moral: unplug your 'puter when you change out the battery..... yuk yuk Mp

Weekly World News. Yeah Rob, their front cover story last week was how a guy in Tupelo, Miss. saw Jesus Christ and Babe Ruth in his mashed potatos.

He said they told him to switch to decaffeinated coffee and run naked to Florida!

HA!
