If your board is an LX chipset, it will not provide the 100Mhz bus speed for the PII 450. Most of these boards will support Celerons to 533 ppga, with the latest bios flash... http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

Have Tyan 1692S support 233 - 333 Hhz PII
Will it support, or can it be set to support
450PII?
Will it work with the motherboard as is?
Will this setup only be slower or will this cause advserse affects?
Thanks in advance, Feedback appreciated.

Thank you Mr. Computer for the information.
It is an LX chipset.
I will be looking for slower PII processor or Celeron or consider faster Celeron if someone has CPU jumber settings or any other settings that will enable faster.
You mentioned 533 ppga.
This is slot 1.
I know there are adapters.
I found Tyan's answer to the question I had, by clicking around on there site.
They mentioned jumber settings for CPU clock up to 400Mhz Celeron support, but is listed as being "not yet validated". http://www.tyan.com/support/html/j_tg_atx.html
Would anyone have info. on what CPU jumper settings for 553 ppga Celeron?
Otherwise I will check Pricewatch and such for Low price PII 333 MHZ or Celeron 366 more or less.
Thanks, Chronk

Don't worry about jumper settings. The board will autorecognize the multiplier locked celeron... http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

well should autorecognize. My asus p2b didn't like having the wrong multi set till i updated the bios.
Thats another thing you are probably going to need to update the bios for it to recognize a celeron correctly

Thank you for the replies.
I now understand that I have more possibilities of Celron Processors to choose from, along with the PII up to 333 MHZ.
