how come they didn't close the topic on "timothy mcvey", that was pretty "OT" too, and the SETI one, and some other ones that don't have to do with computers??

Hey, ya know what wtp, just live with it. It's completely up the moderators of the forum as to which topics stay and which don't. Just deal with it. It's no big deal. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

It is primarily intended for computer related discussion that does not fit in the other categories - not so we can all chat about our favorite colors. I don't mind a bit of flavor now and then but today was wacky. Generally intelligent discussion regardless of subject (within reason) is fine (technology, politics, etc., but not "how many muscles do we use to smile", or "whether or not any of us have fallen from a roof").

We've been trying to keep the forum from growing into an unruly mess - not make it boring or limit all conversation to technology.

I guess its getting to be more and more work for adm as membership grows. My take is they are very generous, but do have to draw the line somewhere! and I've never fallen off a roof
