Greetings:
I have an Amptron PG-5554A barebones system (PCChips M754LMR mobo) with a Celeron II 600 MHz chip, 4 gig HD, 128MB PC133 (7.5ns). OS is Win Me (upgraded from Win98 SE) This is a budget system but has been very stable. It benchmarks just below other 600 MHz machines in all categories except one: FPU performance benchmarks the same as a Celeron 266! The low FPU performance has been measured by more than one benchmarking program. The low performance is a mystery.
It is not due to software conflicts. The FPU performance is low in both Windows normal and safe modes. BIOS settings have little or now effect on FPU performance.
I'm not unhappy with this machine, but I would like to get FPU performance closer to expected levels for a 600 MHz machine.
Any ideas?
