I am looking for some ide ribbon cables w 66/100 specs. I want the single channel ones not the master/slave cables that comes with hard drives these days. I've checked many sites but they seem to only offer the dual channel cables only.

The "cable guy" at computer shows is where I'd look. Otherwise, PriceWatch (http://www.pricewatch.com) .

Nobody makes ATA 100 cables that are one device only, I hate those two device ones!

uhm...why may I ask?
If you really dont want both connectors, you can snap off the middle connector and put a piece of tape over the holes, and voila, one channel IDE ribbon.

Good one AuraEdge, I already got a dozen of these duals laying everywhere, I am sick that manufactures automatically assume you want to daisy chain your old drive with your new one, this is stupid to do because you will get your old drives speed and not your new one. I have two PCI ATA 100 adapter so drive real estate is not a problem for me.

It's probably different w/the 66/100 IDE cables, but w/the 40-pin IDE cables, you can simply cut it right after the middle connector and viola. CANNOT on a SCSI cable, tho.

I take it if I daisychain a UDMA66 drive with a UDMA100 drive, I will get an output of UDMA66 on both drives. Yes?

In that case, if I daisy chain a UDMA100 drive with a CD-ROM drive, will it affect the speed?

Yes, your speed will be affected if you add a slower device to the same cable as that of the faster device. If you put a ATA 100 hdd w a cdrom, you will get ATA 33 speed.
