SiS 530/5595 chipset. Proven platform, dunno about the Soyo board.

Whatever you do, use a high FSB frequency and CAS2 SDRAM for best possible memory bandwidth. The integrated VGA will eat into that, and the more you have, the better.

Not familiar with that particular board, but I've had excellent luck with Soyo. I've got the 5EHM, as do several friends. No problems.
Never heard anyone badmouth them, either.

Micron ram at buy.com is about $64 for 128mb pc100 and $75 or so for PC133.

Without having it in hand, how do you tell the CL ?

I went to micron's site and had NO luck.

Per Micron, both Speed Mark -75 or -7e can be CL 3 (in PC133)

But ONLY -7e can POSSIBLY be CL2.

So how in the world can you tell,, buy another brand ?

another item, per Micron
"Micron's 64mb SDRAM has auto refresh, which requies all 4,096 rows to be refreshed every 64ms.
This command should be distributed every 15.6us...."

Strange,

PC133 SDRAM should be fast enough for CAS2 operation at 100 MHz.

The full ID for a CAS latency 2 capable PC100 DIMM is PC100-222. Shop for that.
