I just ordered a Abit KA7-100 motherboard and a Athlon 700 and wanted to know what would be the best case for this motherboard.
Thanks.

case doesn't matter so long as it is ATX. Although, from experience, tower cases are A LOT easier to work inside than mini towers or midi towers as there is so much more space.

you do want to make sure, however, that the case's power supply is athlon-compatible. athlons seem to be picky about what power supplies they do an dont like, so i would recommend checking out amd's website and look up what is amd recommended as far as power supplies go. they also have a list of recommended cases as well. hope this helps...

I pondered this one for a while, since I too am building an athlon 700 machine with the same motherboard you are getting. Actually, I was more concerned about the power supply than the case. I was going for the PC Power and cooling case and power supply (Silencer) but changed my mind to the Antec KS282-PP303X. Good construction and as the previous note said, it is recommended by AMD and the PCP&C Silencer was not. There are many good cases but in my humble opinion you can't go wrong with Antec...kinda an old faithful, comfortable shoe.

I recommend going to www.pinecomputer.com (http://www.pinecomputer.com) or www.pinecomputers.com, (http://www.pinecomputers.com,) and look under cases. They have a very nice tower case that is easy to work with and looks pretty cool, and has enough space for whatever your needs.

I just built myself a new system with the Asus K7V and a 750 CPU and I bought the Casedge case with the Hipro 300 Watt power supply. I have used casedge cases now for about 3 years and there is plenty of room to work and I'd use nothing else. There are cheaper cases on the market, but when the time come you need to work on your system, you'll be happy with the casedge. You should get a 300 Watt ps no matter what case you get.

Captain Kidd,

Where did you get your Casedge case from? Is this the case? (link below) Did it come with the 300 watt Athlon compatible ps or did you have to buy that separately.

Thanks in advance,
Mark F.

Don't let anyone tell you that a case is not important. I have a KA7 and I purchased a 4 bay case, except I can't use the bottom two bays since the capacitors on the mobo block anything from sliding in. Make sure you have decent depth from the case looking in from the front. Just realized this was an old thread, hope this helps anyway.

Again, I realize it is an old thread but I built a KA7-100/700 and used this case:
http://www.pccase.com/products/AT900.html

It is a little pricey but it works wonders, has plenty of bays, AMD-approved PS available and the front cover pops off without any LED cables connected to it. They also have a midtower of similar design:

The motherboard tray slides out, no sharp edges and as close to completely tooless as I've used yet.

Good luck.
