Hello,
Right now I have a Celeron 533 mhz computer. Im thinking about upgrading. Now see, right now my motherboard has only two DIMM sockets and one open for expanion and no AGP slor either so Im stuck with using my PCI slots for gaming (3 PCI slots, all filled now). My question is basically what type of a new motherboard do I need that I can use with my celeron processor. I want the board to have 5 PCI slots, an agp slot, and I guess 3 Dimms for expansion on RAM, but most importantly I want it to be able to use my celeron chip or another processor chip for futore time. Is this possible? Can I transport my celeron chip onto the new board without having to by a new chip? Also, if I got the board and it had the AGP slot in it would it work correctly under it with the celeron processor? There arent any new celerons that are coming with agp slots due to the intel 810 things or something like that I hear. If you understand what Im saying and you know a good site with good deals on the board Im looking for I thank you greatly. Thanks for reading.

Just find yerself any motherboard that says it can take fc-pga PIII coppermines and ya should be fine.

If a board can take a coppermine, it also can take that celeron.

I found a new motherboard that supports up to a celeron 600 and a p3 800 so I could upgrade to the p3 later since they are both socket 370. I found the board at www.tigerdirect.com. (http://www.tigerdirect.com.) Heres the one board link http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?sku=P450-1035. Its 79 bucks, so its a good price. Also, I found an anthlon socket a mobo for 79 too. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?sku=S450-2000. There was also a 550 athlon chip for 69 bucks and then later since the board supports up to 1000 mhz I could upgrade to the higher chip. If I got the new mobo and chip would everything like my hard drive and ect. still work properly? Should I go for the p3/celeron board or buy the athlon board and the 550 chip for now? Thxz a lot.

Also you might as well just buy a new processor. They can be around 100$ depending on what you get. If you only use intell a p3 650mhz is fine. I can recomend 3 companies for the mobo. Epox, A-bit, and Asus. Epox is an American company and i don't know how you feel about US electronic products, but they do good work. Epox (http://www.epox.xom) . The other two are in taiwan. Asus (http://www.asus.com.tw) and A-bit (http://www.abit.com.tw) . Good luck!
